Fasting & Prayer Initiative, Week 4

“For thus says the LORD, ‘You shall not see wind or rain, but that streambed shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink, you, your livestock, and your animals.’ 18 This is a light thing in the sight of the LORD. He will also give the Moabites into your hand, 19 and you shall attack every fortified city and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree and stop up all springs of water and ruin every good piece of land with stones.” 20 The next morning, about the time of offering the sacrifice, behold, water came from the direction of Edom, till the country was filled with water.” —2 Kings 3:17-20

Blessings on this special Sunday afternoon!

In my reading in the Word this week, I was impacted by the incident in 2 Kings, when Mesha king of Moab, rebelled against Israel. Mesha needed help, so he recruited the king of Judah and the king of Edom to go after Moab.

After several days they encountered severe drought. They asked for a prophet to come and intervene with the Lord on their behalf. Elisha was called up, and a dry streambed was filled with water and the armies were saved! I encourage you to read the entire account in 2 Kings.

As a nation, we desperately need the outpouring of the River of God’s presence into the hearts of our people. I suggest that this be your primary focus in prayer this week.

As you receive words from the Lord, please send them by way.

The Lord guard you and guide you this week,
Paul Laursen, on behalf of Advent Leadership and The Praise Community
