We at Advent believe the Lord is in control of what’s going on in our world. But, it is hard to discern His wisdom for us followers of Christ, to hear the Holy Spirit speaking truth, and to filter out the opinions from those cultural warriors who have their own untruthful and unbiblical agendas. A foundational passage of Scripture familiar to many is 2 Chronicles 7:14:

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

It’s not supposed to be someone else, not “they”, that should do something. It’s not down to the politicians or our leaders or sports figures or Hollywood personalities to “do something”. It’s “my people” – all of us believers. And verse 15 gives us His promise; ”Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place”.

We have launched a Fasting & Prayer Initiative, calling on our Advent family and the wider community to spend dedicated and earnest time in the Word, fasting, and praying for discernment and repentance. Praying for our nation. Praying for our leaders. Praying for humility and a return to God and a turning away from our rebellious and wayward ways. Join us in this initiative. We welcome you.
